IM MORE OF A DREAMER

2023/2024

This body of work is a Study and Love letter to the cultural and artistic characters fictional and nonfictional that I've embraced on my journey to finding and empowering my true Identity & culture. Moreover, this collection seeks to provoke a reflection on the broader societal structures that influence immigrant experiences of assimilation and adaptation in America.

The shallow portrayals of Immigrants in American media, discriminatory encounters, and the fear of being outcasted are only some of the many conflicts faced by individuals navigating new cultural landscapes; these conflicts tend to lead us to distance ourselves from our own Identity and culture. This body of work ultimately looks to strengthen Identity and originality through art as I advocate for preserving individualism & cultural empowerment. Through visual exploration, this project strives to inspire viewers to reconsider the narratives surrounding immigration, Identity, and belonging. I'm proud to share this work as an immigrant, Latino, and, some would say, a dreamer.
